Contemporary Irish Artist and Printmaker

Deirdre’s work is inspired mainly by the sea and human form. The two subjects are complex, compelling, fragile, fierce and powerful. Both have to be revered.

The imagery in  Deirdre’s artwork  is predominantly influenced by the time she spends in Glandore, West Cork, where she  holidays with her family annually for over ten years now. Whether in winter or summer the contrasts in Glandore are stark however the common thread is that the place always brings peace and nourishment to the soul. Deirdre is now a member of the Limerick Printmakers and is thoroughly enjoying the print process and the happy accidents that occur. She is currently experimenting with embossing, cyanotype, etching and monoprints.

There is a commonality in all Deirdre’s artwork, it is the instinctual nature of the it that explains the  narrative of it.

Deirdre now lives in Limerick and spent two years living and working in Japan in 1990-1992. She exhibits annually in Glandore, West Cork in both Glandore Harbour Yacht Club and most recently in Wilds Gallery,Glandore.
